Spent a couple of nights now just relaxing and spending time with the Frosts. Cairns is extremely windy and cold. We can't wait to get further north and warm up a bit. Terry and Deb keep laughing at us because they're not feeling the cold as much as we are. I will be eternally grateful to our friend Ian for the roastie toastie swags he gave the boys. They have slept comfortably warm the whole way.

The kids have all re-kindled their friendships and its amazing to see how much they've grown and matured. Last time they were together, Cam and Nat were Dan's age now. They spend there days either at the water park or jumping pillow that is here at the Big 4.

The park itself is full of families that are a part of the MySwag forum that Steve and Terry are members of. One of the blokes that live here in Cairns organised a dinner last night, which was fun and a good opportunity to learn some more detail on track conditions etc. Steve and Terry are grinning like cheshire cats - Deb and I are getting more furtive as departure gets closer. Although meeting up at different way-points will happen, we will not travel with the group as this trip still remains to be about our two families being together. It is so comforting to be around people that know us well - and also to be called Vivvy again.

Our car is at the mechanics getting the diff seals fixed, Steve bought a new Hema GPS system, and we put new poly air bags in the back. All the food shopping and cry-ovacing has been done. We pull out tomorrow so this afternoon will be spent sorting out space. Terry and Deb just came back from their shopping - after pulling up next to the muddiest cars at stop lights, and having a chat through the window they are now really pumped! Can't wait......

  1. Feeling cold in Cairns! If you guys ever get down this way, be sure and make it in the middle of summer - you just would not cope with our colder seasons. Janet suggests you stop off at an op shop and buy woollen jumpers in summer colours. We are very much enjoying your blog and it is great hearng of your adventures
