Our last night in Darwin and we've moved into a cabin for the night. We've spent the day cleaning, washing, shopping and cryovacing to get ready for the Gibb River Road part of the journey. We are keen to hit the road again for a lot of reasons. Mainly because it means we are closer to Broome and seeing Steve's Dad (Jock). The boys are looking forward to spending their days with Grandad and settling down for a while.
Although we had one busy day here, the rest of our time has been spent lazing around the resort and pool. We haven't even gone to Kakadu or Litchfield as we first thought we would. And before anyone starts commenting that we should have seen this, or we should have gone there, we have found that regardless of where we are, it is important to relax, take stock and spend some quiet time as a family unit. It has been great to be in a family groove of just looking after one another and playing without timetables, schedules and long drives.
We have really enjoyed what we have seen of Darwin and although it's hot, the humidity has only just started to concern us over the last 2 days. Best get used to it I suppose, because it's going to get a whole lot worse!
Tomorrow we hit the road again. We'll do a long day on the road, and stop somewhere when we've had enough. Our main aim is to get back to Kununurra to be in a position to get on the Gibb River Road. Maybe we'll make it in a day, maybe two...
