Along the Victoria River

12th August, 2009
Blatting down the highway trying to get as far as we could found us camping at Victoria River Roadhouse. This place was right on the Victoria River and what a pleasant little spot it proved to be. We camped down close to the river and we were surrounded by long reedy grass which was home to these noisy little marsupial things and other tiny birds. A walk down to the river showed the mandatory croc warnings that we have grown accustomed to. The river was as calm and smooth as a pane of glass. The reflections were so clear, it was beautiful. The boys learnt about the “ripple effect” by throwing rocks into the water causing ripples that spread out for metres. This is also the morning that Cam discovered the joys of a tube of condensed milk – Mmmmmm!
