Well, I've just been given the "calm down" talk followed by the "relax" talk followed by a hug. This can only mean one thing - we are about to set out on another trek!

Two years after settling in Broome, we've packed up the Johnno's and tomorrow morning we pull out and head to Cape York. Best thing of all - we are going with our "besties" the Frosts. After two and a half years, 500 drunken skype sessions, and lots of anticipation, planning and dreaming its all eventuating now. Right now, I feel a bit nervous however I know I'll sleep like a baby tonight and it will be Steve to lay awake staring at the ceiling going through all the possible scenarios in his head. I panic early, Steve leaves it all to the last minute.

We're leaving our home in the safe hands of our friend Mark (yes Mark - we said SAFE and you'd better catch that mouse that's invited itself over to stay) and if this mess taking over my living room ever fits into the camper we will be off tomorrow.

The plan: A five day marathon via the Savannah Way to make it to Cairns and meet with Terry, Deb, Liss and Nat for a long overdue beer (and maybe a rabbit chase) and then get going up the Cape. We have four weeks from Cairns and back to Cairns again, then we will take ten days heading home to Broome via the Lava Tubes and Roper River. Seven weeks of bliss.

This time, we are simply taking Cam and Dan out of school. We have minimal work that they will keep up with, mainly reading and math. Luckily, they are the favourite subjects of both of them. As for the rest of the time - they have their explorer bags (that go everywhere) and a whole wealth of travelling experience that will only get richer with this trip. They are two years older now with a different perspective on life and travel. They actually realise how lucky they are, and also how different their experiences make them. This is all I ask of them.

As for the car and camper we haven't changed much. Steve has added a bit of wiring in the trailer, plumbed a water system on top of the roof rack, and just some general "tinkering" as men will do. The experience of 6 months travel from East to West to get to Broome has made us much simpler campers. We don't need much more than a wide open night sky full of stars and a toasty campfire - after all, we are now rugged Kimberley folk!

So, welcome back to the blog everyone. Hope you continue to enjoy our travels as much as we do......
