Steve, Cam and Dan - sunset on Cable Beach The "iconic" camel rides on Cable Beach - you can smell them before you see them

The frangipani trees are in full bloom, the boabs have grown leaves, geckos are everywhere, the mangoes are hanging on the trees trying to ripen, frogs are croaking, the fires are blazing – it must mean the wet is about to arrive. Actually, everyone will tell you that the wet is more about build up than about actual rain – but we can’t wait.

We missed the first storm of the season as we had to go back to Winmalee to fix up the house affairs and officially put it on the rental market. What a huge job! I could go on for hours about it, but have decided I’m better off by learning and moving on. We decided to store all our furniture in storage to buy us another year of time before we have to make any big decisions. Cam went back to Ellison School to see all his mates, and both Cam and Dan spent a lot of time at the Sibbald’s house. It was great to see that both of them have not lost any of their special friendship they’ve shared with Blake and Liam and things picked up from where it left. We also were glad to spend some time with Kelly and Kieran and to find the family happy and relaxed. They were a great help in what was a frantic week. We know for sure now that we won’t be returning to the mountains to live again. It is a great place to live, but the boys are loving the beach life and Steve and I have remembered how much we love the coastal life. That’s not to say the Broome will be our permanent abode, but we’ll probably look along the same latitude but on the east coast. So for now, we have a lovely young couple living in it who have already been busy making it their home, so there is no rush for action. We still have a lot of traveling to do first.

This week saw another cruise ship come into Broome Port, so I had a busy Sunday at the Visitor Centre. It really is a fabulous day. My day ended with our Helicopter Operators offering me a free 30 minute joy ride over Broome. Needless to say I jumped at the opportunity and it was magnificent! Only pity is I didn’t have my camera with me. Today also is the day I received a promotion at the Visitor Centre to Manager of Admin and Finance. Yay! I’m so excited. I officially take the role on 21st December, but have already been training in the role for the last 3 weeks. It will be full time, and the boys are already excited about going to After School/Holiday Care (BOSSCA) each day. Only 3 weeks until school holidays!!!

  5. The next phase of travel is about to get the green flag I'm [as will Lou] really looking forward to sharing you adventure albeit on my computer. Christchurch is making slow progress; lots of stories etc in The Press but at home it seems like CHCH is far away and the stories lose relevance; quite strange.
