18th June, 2011

It’s a small world! We pulled into the servo at Kunnunurra to fill up with fuel. As I was washing the windscreen I heard “Is that you Viv?” I turned around to find an old mate Richard walking up. We were told the day before we left that he was working his way back to Knx and kept looking out for him, but was amazed to have actually run into him. Yay, there’s our accommodation on the way home sorted – yes, Jeni – we’ll cook you the camp roast then.

We did a big drive today and arrived in Daly Waters at around 8:30pm. We forgot to account for the time difference, so it all caught up to us. We broke one of our golden rules and were traveling after dark. Steve spent a bit of time roadside adjusting the spotties so we managed to dodge heaps of dingoes and wallabies on the way except for one poor little wallaby. I was a bit worried how the boys would take the fact that we ran over a creature, but funnily enough they both said a prayer (not sure where that came from) in the back seat, and then made Steve stop on the side of the road to check for blood and gore.

We took a room at Daly Waters, ate in the restaurant and had a game of pool. We absolutely love these little towns and always have a fabulous time. The boys were bought drinks and dessert from one of the traveling workers staying there so there were happy as!
