Kings Canyon River Walk

There are photos of the night out, but you'll have to pay me for them!!!

We finally packed up and left Yulara. We felt so at home there, it came to the point that if we didn’t leave soon, we’d end up not leaving at all. Although it was a peaceful stay, which on the last two days the boys were off and playing all day while Steve and I lounged around camp reading and doing crosswords. But, it was time to go….now we’re in the West McDonnell Ranges and it’s beautiful.

We camped at the Kings Canyon Resort which was brilliant. This place was attached to a Mobil Service Station, had 3 bars and restaurants and overall was really friendly. We met the couple next door – Richard and Carolyn, with their 3 boys Christian, Will and Lachlan. Cam and Dan were set. The boys spent the afternoon playing, and then we left to have dinner at the Outback Bar (where we later met up with Richard and Carolyn). The meals were gigantic and delicious and they had this couple called the Roadies playing guitar and singing. Before long they had all the kids on stage with musical instruments, playing and singing along with microphones. It was brilliant. The lady had them so under control and enthusiastic (reminded me of Mrs Murray!). Then they pulled all the adults up and we had to either sing, dance or generally make fools of ourselves but we had a blast. Such an unexpected night, that we will remember for a long time. We even have the “performance diplomas’ to prove it.

That night, we all made the decision to head into Palm Valley for a night. It is 4WD access only, so of course, we can’t miss that chance…
