Steve working on the car

Our campsite

Bramwell Station

Full of stories and bravado, we come off the Frenchmans Track and stop to take stock at Bramwell Station. There are a few places you can stay in this area but I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. A young couple manage this place as Bramwell Station Tourist Park – and it is excellent. We had the best meals here and the hospitality shown by Dick and Kaleena is second to none. That’s my recommendation!

This was basically just a two night stopover to clean up, give the cars a once over, let the kids run wild in the wide open space and generally sit around the campfire and rehash the last few days.

We drove up to the beginning of the Telegraph Track to see what all the fuss about Palm Creek was. After watching a few attempts, we decided that we would detour to Weipa for a few nights to get the electric winch fixed before taking this track on. We’d had enough handwinching to last us a lifetime!
